A Final Push for Premier League Glory

Salah’s dedication to Liverpool remains unwavering despite the looming uncertainty surrounding his contract, which is set to expire in six months. The Egyptian icon stated:

“I really want to win the Premier League with Liverpool. It’s my last year in the club, so you want to do something special for the city.”

Currently leading the Premier League in both goals (17) and assists (13), Salah is driving Liverpool’s campaign. With Arne Slot’s team sitting six points clear at the top of the table, the 32-year-old’s performances have been pivotal.

A Legacy Yet to Be Cemented

Reflecting on his motivation, Salah explained how Liverpool’s first Premier League title, won during the pandemic, lacked the proper celebration it deserved:

“We waited for that title for 30 years or so. So, to win it and it was the pandemic at that time, we didn’t really have time to celebrate it in the right way. It’s not a nice thing to do, so hopefully we can do it this year.”

Having already secured a plethora of honors with Liverpool under Jurgen Klopp, including the Champions League, FA Cup, and Club World Cup, Salah believes the team still needs a second Premier League trophy to solidify its place among the greats.

“Yes, definitely [to rubber stamp this Liverpool team as a great Premier League team],” Salah added. “We’ve won almost everything, but we’ve won the Premier League once. Hopefully, we can win it twice, which would be great.”

Stellar Form Amid Contract Uncertainty

Despite no progress on a contract renewal, Salah’s performances this season have been nothing short of extraordinary. His ability to stay focused amidst speculation is a testament to his professionalism. When asked how he avoids distractions, he remarked:

“If this is the last six months, what do you want to see in the future? Do you want to look back and say I was concerned or stressed about the contract? Or do you just want to say I had an unbelievable season? That’s what is in my head.”

Salah has recorded an incredible 30 goal involvements in just 18 Premier League games this season — the fastest in the competition’s history. Additionally, his 52 goal contributions in all competitions in 2024 are the highest among players in Europe’s top leagues.

Thriving Under New Leadership

The departure of Jurgen Klopp after 11 seasons brought significant changes to Liverpool, with Arne Slot introducing new tactical approaches. Salah believes the shift has rejuvenated the team and elevated his role.

“The new manager has come in with a new idea which helps the team. The way we play is completely different… In my game, the team relies on me a little bit more than before and somehow it is helping me express myself.”

Eyeing the Future

Salah’s relentless pursuit of excellence is evident in his desire to leave a lasting legacy. While individual accolades like the Ballon d’Or may be within reach, his primary focus remains on collective success.

“The most important thing for me is to win the Premier League and to be a big part of that. I don’t just want to have a small part. I want to win it and then for people to say he made the difference.”

As Salah enters the final months of his Liverpool career, fans and critics alike will watch closely to see if he can deliver the ultimate farewell gift — another Premier League trophy. Whatever the outcome, his contribution to Liverpool’s history is already legendary.
