Liverpool head coach Arne Slot was understandably delighted at his press conference on Friday ahead of Sunday’s Premier League match against West Ham. He said: “[I’m] happy, of course. He’s shown at this club for so many years how valuable he is to the team and the club. Like all our fans and his teammates, we are thrilled that he has extended for two more years, and hopefully, he can show again on Sunday just how important he has been to us this season.”

There had been concerns that Salah, Virgil van Dijk, and Trent Alexander-Arnold might all leave with their contracts expiring at the end of the campaign. However, with Salah’s contract extension, the Reds now know that at least the Egyptian will be staying next season.
