Serbian international Aleksandar Mitrovic has now scored 32 league goals this season for Fulham. He scored his 32nd goal of the 2021-22 Championship season on Wednesday against Peterborough.
Aleksandar Mitrovic scores 32 league goals in the 2021-22 Championship season to break the record for the most goals in Championship history
Mitrovic has now passed Ivan Toney’s record of 31 goals in a single Championship season which the Brentford forward scored last year.
The English second division league was rebranded in 2004-05 and since then Mitrovic’s tally of 32 goals in a single Championship season is the highest. Before the rebranded Championship, Guy Whittingham scored 42 league goals in the English second-tier league in 1992-93.
Interestingly, Mitrovic still has 14 games to play so he can easily cross the 42 goal mark scored in the previous format of the English second-tier league.
