Miss India Tripura 2017, Rinky Chakma, tragically passed away at the age of 28 after a courageous fight against cancer, ultimately succumbing to the illness.
Rinky Chakma passed away at the age of 28 after a valiant two-year battle with breast cancer. Diagnosed in 2022 with a malignant Phyllodes Tumor (breast cancer), she underwent surgery, but unfortunately, the cancer metastasized to her lungs and later progressed to her head, leading to a brain tumor. Despite undergoing treatment, her health declined, and according to a report by Femina, she was unable to continue chemotherapy.

As per news sources, Rinky Chakma was admitted to Max Hospital Saket on February 22 in critical condition. She required ventilation in the ICU due to the near-non-functionality of one of her lungs. Last month, Rinky Chakma took to Instagram, sharing a post seeking financial assistance for her treatment. In the post, she opened up about her battle with cancer and revealed her initial hesitation in sharing her health struggles on social media.
Rinky elaborated on her family’s current need for financial support to cover her cancer treatment expenses. She expressed, “I want to inform everyone that my family and I are facing challenging times. The past two years have been particularly difficult with frequent hospitalizations and medical appointments. At this point, we have depleted all our savings on my treatment. Sharing my journey with everyone also brings me some comfort.”
In the same year, Rinky Chakma clinched the Miss India title in 2017. Alongside being a finalist, she also secured two sub-titles: Miss Congeniality and Beauty With a Purpose. Coincidentally, Manushi Chhillar achieved victory in both the Miss World and India titles during that year.
