Southampton have reached a breakthrough in negotiations to sign Mislav Orsic from Southampton. The deal had stalled earlier this week, but after the increased offer worth £6 million – they have finalised an agreement with Dinamo Zagreb for the forward.
The 30-year-old will be completing his medical for the move to St Mary’s in the coming hours. The documents are now being prepared to complete his switch very soon, so that more players can be signed in the coming days.
Mislav Orsic to join Southampton in the coming hours
Orsic might be a name familiar to fans of Chelsea, West Ham and Tottenham. The Croatian scored a hat-trick to dump Spurs out of the 2020 Europa League. He also scored against West Ham United last year, while also netting the winner against Chelsea in the Champions League, in Thomas Tuchel’s last game in charge of the Blues.
The forward has scored 13 goals and provided eight assists across 27 games this season. As a result, he will be expected to bolster their attack after his arrival.
Southampton are currently at the bottom of the Premier League, and are in a very difficult situation right now. It remains to be seen whether the arrival of Mislav Orsic can indeed help them survive the drop this year.
