Telangana minister Konda Surekha apologized to Samantha Prabhu’s family in a series of tweets, stating that her comments were not intended to belittle them. Telangana minister Konda Surekha has apologized for her comments after stirring controversy by suggesting that actor Samantha Prabhu and actor Naga Chaitanya’s divorce was influenced by Bharat Raksha Samithi (BRS) leader KT Rama Rao. Konda Surekha issued an apology after receiving a legal notification from KTR threatening to sue her unless she withdrew her comments and issued an apology.

Konda Surekha made it clear in a string of tweets that her remarks were intended to challenge KTR’s “belitting of women” rather than to offend anyone. She maintained her comments weren’t intended to “In my political career, I have never mentioned or brought up issues of anyone’s family for political gains. I did not demean your family or Ms @Samanthaprabhu2. I never use the problems someone faces in their personal life as a means to target them, nor did I do it in your case. That’s not my style or intention”.

“I have never crossed the boundaries in my political discourse, nor have I made baseless allegations. If my words have hurt or offended you, I express my regret. I always strive to uphold the dignity of my profession,” she said.

“My comments are meant to question a leader’s belittling of women and not to hurt your @Samanthaprabhu2 sentiments. The way you have grown up with self-power is not only an admiration for me, but also an ideal,” The minister sent out a tweet.

On Tuesday, a viral video of Konda Surekha accusing KTR of meddling in the personal lives of celebrities and being involved to drug-related scandals surfaced on social media. The minister also discussed Samantha Prabhu and Naga Chaitanya’s divorce in the video, claiming KTR was the reason behind it.


Following Konda Surekha’s comments, a flurry of celebrities, including Samantha Prabhu and Naga Chaitanya, criticized the minister. Konda Surekha received a legal warning from KTR, who called her comments “baseless and malicious” and that they were an attempt to damage his name through unsupported allegations.
