Not every teen drama needs monsters or supernatural twists to unsettle you — sometimes discipline, hierarchy, and silence are enough. **Minerva Academy**, Netflix’s new Italian series, starts as a familiar school story and slowly turns into something far more haunting.

## What’s Minerva Academy About?

Set inside a fictional military high school in Naples, the series follows three first-year cadets — Salvo, Vincenzo, and Camilla — as they navigate discipline, forbidden relationships, and a hazing culture known as “nonnismo.” A mystery runs through all eight episodes: what really happened to Salvo’s missing “brother” Francesco, and how much does the school actually know?

## Why It’s Worth the Watch?

What begins as familiar teen-drama territory — the rebellious rich girl, the troubled outsider, the son chasing his father’s approval — deepens considerably by the back half. The standout thread is Commander Achille Giordano (Massimiliano Gallo) and his son Diego (Simone Secce), a father-son bond strained by rigid military values and real grief. The show doesn’t moralize about discipline versus cruelty; it simply shows what happens when rules matter more than people.
