Roma might have their first signing of the summer confirmed in the coming days. Belgian-born Serbian goalkeeper Mile Svilar will be joining the capital club soon. According to renowned transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, the transfer is a done deal and will be completed soon.
Gianluca Di Marzio of Sky Sport says that the player will undergo his medical to complete the transfer within the next ten days. He will play out the remainder of the season with current club Benfica, and will become a part of the Roma squad in the summer.
Mile Svilar to join Roma in the summer
The 22-year-old will be making the move to Roma as a free agent, since his contract with Benfica expires at the end of the season. He has rejected a number of offers in favour of linking up with Jose Mourinho.
The Special One is an admirer of the young goalkeeper, and will be getting his man within the upcoming days. A verbal agreement is already in place for the arrival of the youngster. And soon, he will be in Italy, ready to play for Mourinho.
Born in Antwerpen, Mile Svilar represents the Serbian national team, making his debut in 2021. He represented Belgium at the youth levels before eventually changing his nationality. The goalkeeper came through the ranks at the Anderlecht academy before eventually moving to Benfica in 2017.
And now, he is set to join one of the top clubs in the big 5 leagues in Europe to compete for game time with Rui Patricio.
