Microsoft’s Surface Laptop Go 2 with an 11th-generation Core i5 processor has been spotted in the shop listing

As per the sources, Microsoft is expected to launch an improved version of its small Surface Laptop Go. The main difference between the Surface Laptop Go 2 and the original 2020 laptop appears to be the newer 11th-gen Intel CPU (an i5-1135G7), which replaces the 10th-gen one.

About the Surface Laptop Go 2

This time around, the Surface Laptop Go 2 will come with Windows 11, and a Google Translate of the merchant page claims that the webcam will have better HD camera capabilities. Preorders will begin on June 2nd, so a formal announcement should be coming soon. According to WinFuture, the laptop’s starting price might be as low as $650.

Aside from that, the new laptop appears to be identical to its predecessor. It still includes a 12.4-inch display with a 3:2 aspect ratio, as well as the same USB-A, USB-C, 3.5mm headphone connector, and Microsoft’s charger port. On some versions, a fingerprint sensor is still built into the power button. There’s no mention of a lighted keyboard, which was an oversight on the first Laptop Go.

The Original and the Successor

It’ll be available with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, same as last time, according to the merchant description, although it’s unclear what the features of its entry-level variant will be.

The original Surface Laptop Go came with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, but according to a recent claim from WinFuture, this edition could come with 128GB of storage out of the box. The Surface Laptop Go 2 is rated to provide 13.5 hours of use per charge, according to the merchant ad.

The Surface Laptop Go is expected to compete with Chromebooks, which are popular among students, and is billed as the most economical entry in Microsoft’s Surface laptop portfolio. However, we were underwhelmed with the first model, which had restricted specifications and features at an uncompetitive price.
