Surface Laptops have always been out of reach for quite a several people because of their pricing. However, Microsoft’s Surface Go was a huge hit because of its pricing and its value. So, the Redmont giant is planning to diversify its Surface Laptops, making a cut-down version of it.

This will help them bring the laptop to a wide number of audiences, and it seems they will be using the old Ice Lake CPUs to trim down the costs. We have been noticing leaks of the new Surface device for quite some time now, and now it has been leaked by prominent tipster Roland Quandt.

So, the new ‘budget’ Surface Laptop will feature a 12.45-inch PixelSense display with 1,536 x 1,024-pixel resolution, retaining its 3:2 aspect ratio. The new Surface Go will retain Microsoft’s Surface Connect port along with USB Type-A and Type-C ports. Also, there will be a 3.5 mm headphone jack, and the total weight of the device will be around 1.1 kg.

Microsoft launches the 15-inch Surface Laptop 3 with AMD CPUs

Coming to the performance, the upcoming Surface Laptop Go will sport a 15W Intel Ice Lake chip, Core i5-1035G1 processor paired with 4 GB or 8 GB of RAM. However, on Geekbench, a 16 GB model was indeed tested by Microsoft. On the storage front, there will be models with 64 GB, 128 GB, and 256 GB of storage.

The 64 GB variant will obviously sport eMMC flash storage while the 128 GB and 256 GB variants will use NVMe drives. It is even being speculated that Microsoft will be marketing the upcoming Surface Laptop Go to last up to 13 hours on a single charge. This is indeed helped by running Windows 10 in S Mode, so expect lower battery life when used on Windows 10 Home or Pro.

As for the rumored pricing, the upcoming Surface Laptop Go will cost $699.99 at launch and will go up to $1,199.99 for the flagship variant. Quandt even claimed that Microsoft would offer the new Surface Laptop Go in multiple colors: Blue, Gold, and Silver. Hopefully, Microsoft will be launching this new device at its annual event this month.
