Erling Haaland

Chelsea is making it to the headlines with their pursuit of Erling Haaland this summer, despite Borussia Dortmund making it clear that the striker is not for sale in 2021.

The player missed Dortmund’s fitness camp held on Monday, and Michael Zorc joked Haaland was already in England when journalists asked him about the player’s absence. The striker is expected to rejoin the training with the rest of the squad in preparation for the new season.

Borussia are still on the same position: they want to keep Haaland this summer.

Although Dortmund has made it clear that Haaland isn’t for sale this summer, Chelsea is willing to test their resolve, going as far as to bid £175 million to sign him this year. The Norwegian has a release clause that comes into effect next year and is valued at €75 million, which will induce proposals from big clubs all across the continent.

But Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is personally overseeing the player’s pursuit, who has no problem seeing his future under Thomas Tuchel at Stamford Bridge. Haaland has scored 57 goals in 59 appearances for the black and yellow club and won the DFB Pokal trophy in 20/21 to cap off a great individual season.

Dortmund values the youngster at £150 million, and given that they are already parting with Jadon Sancho this summer, they will do everything to hold on to him this term. However, saying no to the Champions of Europe will be a challenging option, especially since they are willing to pay.
