Haaland

Erling Haaland has emerged as the single brightest talent in the footballing world over the last 12 months, and has further solidified his position as the best youngster in the world with his performances lately. The Norwegian recently became the youngest player to score 20 Champions League goals, aged only 20 and having played only 14 European games in his career.

As is the case with every youngster that performs well these days, a move to a bigger club always seems to be around the corner. However, in case of the striker, every major club in Europe seems to be interested, and why wouldn’t they be?

Manchester City lead race for Erling Haaland from England

Addressing these very rumours, here is what Dortmund director Michael Zorc had to say:

“If he decides to leave one day, it will only be for a few teams,” Zorc told Die Welt. “But we’ll try to keep him for as long as we can.

“I’ve never seen anyone like him.”

“We don’t want to play in the Europa League,” Zorc said. “We don’t want to have to hand over our Champions League business card.”

Being well aware of the rumours that Haaland will have to leave in case Dortmund do not qualify for the Champions League, the director fully assured fans of their intentions of doing their best to qualify for the top tier of European competition next season by achieving a top four finish.

Clubs like Real Madrid, Chelsea, Manchester City and Barcelona are in the race for the player realistically, and it is only a question of when and where, when talking about the transfer, than if it will take place at all.
