Mumbai Indians knocked out the Lucknow Supergiants at the Eliminator to punch their ticket to Qualifier 2 by defeating them by a huge margin of 81 runs. It was indeed a phenomenal performance by MI, who has been the most number of champions in this tournament, and it seems like they are longing for another tournament win this time.
The match
Primarily the match didn’t start well for the Indians, as both the openers were;t able to score more. However, Cameron Green coming next, played a brilliant knock of 41 of 23 balls with six fours and a six. His partnership with Suryakumar Yadav, who played a decent knock of 33 of 20 balls, changed the momentum of MI, and since then, they didn’t look back.
In the second phase, Kyle Mayers started well for LSG; however, he wasn’t able to stand for long. Only Marcus Stoinis played a good knock of 40 of 27 balls with five fours and a six, but none apart from that we’re able to deliver well, which eventually led LSG to lose by 81 runs. The main credit goes to Akash Madhwal, who picked up a fifer and eased up the game for his team.
MI to lock horns with GT
With qualifying for Qualifier 2, MI will not lock horns with the defending champions Gujarat Titans, who faced a defeat against CSK in Qualifier 1. GT has played incredibly well throughout the tournament, and it has indeed been a team game, and on the other hand, MI has also been very well in their recent performances, especially when it comes to chasing big targets. It is to be seen who emerges victoriously between them and the classes with CSK in the final.
