IPLs have been a story of ups and downs, and the running edition seems no exception. Mumbai Indians, who started the season with back-to-back losses, have now climbed up to number three in the points table. They have been amazing with the bat, successfully completing another 200-run chase in this season.
MI climbs up to the 3rd position after an easy win against RCB
The visitors came down to bat first, and Kohli was dismissed early. However, Glenn Maxwell and Faf du Plessis seemed to seize the game away from the hosts as they bagged 68 off 33 and 65 off 41, respectively. Thanks to Behrendorff and Green for picking up their respective wickets and giving RCB a blow.
Dinesh Karthik’s 30 off 18 helped Bangalore put up 199 runs on the board. Coming down to chase a big target in their home ground, the MI skipper Rohit Sharma was dismissed early.
But, the chase never seemed difficult for the Mumbai batters. Ishan Kishan started the show with a stunning 42 off 21, and then it was all about Suryakumar Yadav. The right-handed powerhouse hit a magnificent 83 and 35 to help his team chase down the target at their home ground. No wonder why he has been awarded as the player of the match.
What did Sky say in the post-match presentation?
Collecting his Player of the Match award, Yadav said,
“Much needed from the team’s point of view. I’m very happy to win a home game like this. I mean, they come up with a plan. They tried to make me hit the bigger part. Take the pace off and bowl slowly.
I said Nehal, let’s hit it hard and hit it into the gaps and run hard. Your practice has to be the same as what you intend to do in the matches. I know where my runs are. We have open net sessions. I know my game. I don’t do anything different.”
