Meta has declared that one of its oldest products is getting a cost hike. The company which is working towards a future of metaverse is asking customers to pay 100 dollars (nearly Rs 8000) more for the Quest 2 virtual reality headset. Quest 2 is a two-year-old device that provides a virtual reality experience without connecting to the PC.

Meta Is Increasing The Price Of Quest 2 VR Headset

The product has been around for nearly two years now, so the cost hike has come as a shock to everyone. The new cost will come into effect from next month onwards, so there are only a few days left. The new costs of the Quest 2 headset will be 399 dollars (nearly around Rs 31,870) for the 128GB variant, and 499 dollars (nearly around Rs 39,860) for the higher 256GB storage model.

Generally, the price of technology comes down after a few years, but this one appears like a debarment. It asserts that the price to make the product and transport them has increased. So, the people looking to buy the VR headset pay up extra to cancel out the increase.

Global affectation is becoming a worry for companies, and it appears the technology brands are not adjusted to this situation. It is saying that a higher price for everything is a reason for the cost hike, but you also have to look at the other ways the company is trying to make more money out of this product.

It has already talked about declining its hiring for the year, with only important roles available from the company.

Metaverse is still announced as the future of the company but it needs to make more money in the present times, and for that, these increases in price can play a small part in the income projections.

Working on VR is proving to be a costly theory, and it wants to make sure that businesses can work even though it is suffering huge losses on these projects. Quest 2 was pinned as an inexpensive VR solution, but a 100 dollars cost increase means you can be freed from thinking of it as anything but inexpensive.
