For football fans all across the world, Mesut Ozil is one of the most polarising figures in the recent history of the sport. Some see him as an underappreciated creative genius, while the other, a more critical group of football fans see him as simply overrated.
In either case, it must be considered that Ozil has been playing at the highest level for the last decade, and is undeniably talented on his day on the pitch.
Recent times have been unkind towards the 2010 World Cup winner. He has now been frozen out of the squad in all major competitions and has been written off from the Premier League and Europa League squads by Mikel Arteta altogether.
According to the recent updates, Fenerbahce is the club that is supposed to be the next destination for Ozil. All that said, he will have to take a pay cut if he hopes to be signed by the Turkish club.
Ozil is currently on £350,000 a week and does nothing to help the squad out on matchdays. He isn’t even eligible to make up the numbers on the bench anymore.
Arsenal fans have been wondering as of late whether the decision made by Arteta to leave out Ozil from the matchday squad was a wise one or not.
The argument not in favour of the cause rises mainly from the recent lack of attacking direction that Arsenal have been facing in recent weeks. The Gunners are quite literally in the midst of a goal drought and can barely put a foot right while going forward.
Only this time, Aubameyang is also failing to step up and help the club out. Reports regarding Ozil’s move to Fenerbahce further go on to state that it could happen in January. Moreover, it is about 90% sure to happen according to the club chief himself.
