After the long speculations in the last few weeks, Mesut Ozil finally confirmed his move to the Turkish club Fenerbahce. The German midfielder has bid farewell to his Arsenal’s teammate and already made the journey to Turkey.
Yesterday he posted some pictures of him with his family travelling to Turkey. The German midfielder was also seen holding a Fenerbahce scarf in hand.
Though the news has not announced officially. But in an interview with Turkish channel NTV Mesut Ozil said, “I am a Fenerbahce fan. That is why I am very happy to be coming to Turkey with Fenerbahce.”
“I’m very excited. God gave me the chance to wear this jersey as a Fenerbahce fan. God willing, I will carry it with honour and do everything I can for the team.”
“Of course, I’m missing a few matches. I haven’t played in a match in a while, but I am physically fit, I have no issues.”- he added. Ozil revealed that he was training with the first team at Arsenal while he was out of the pitch. So it will not be an issue for him to be match fit soon.
Ozil’s move to Fenerbahce puts an end to his long controversial spell at North London. Mesut Ozil joined Arsenal in 2013 from Real Madrid under Arsene Wenger. He is one of the best creative midfielders in the last decade. His vision and passing are phenomenal. In his 7.5 years tenure, he has made 254 appearances for the London side and scored 44 goals. He has won 3 FA Cup with the Gunners.
But he was frozen out of the squad by Mikel Arteta this season. So this is a good move for both parties as well.
