Barcelona’s next season’s performance highly depends on their star playmaker, Lionel Messi, and his decision about his future in the club. Until now, there have been no contacts made to the Argentinian, with a renewal contract.

Messi is yet to receive any offer from the club even though progressive talks have been made. In 21 days he will be a free agent and things are getting warmed up! The coming three weeks will be very crucial for the club.

FC Barcelona President, Joan Laporta, has been vocal for weeks about his offer to Messi. He is offering the club legend a 2-year renewal contract which sees Messi earning 50 million euro gross salary per year. This is half of what Messi makes currently. Aggressive move? Laporta although doesn’t just stop at this. He is also offering Messi a 10-year offer to take up an ambassadorial role for the club. This would make him another ten million euros.

Laporta has had talks with Messi’s father, Jorge, about his plans and the offer but nothing has been finalized yet.

Laporta’s Sporting Project

Messi is interested more in Barcelona and Laporta’s sporting project right now than on the money. He wants to play what is left of his best years somewhere where there is a chance to compete at the topmost levels of Europe. A LaLiga and Champions League win-worthy project will see Messi renew in Blaugrana colors. The Catalans have signed Sergio Aguero, Eric Garcia, and Emerson. Memphis Depay is also expected to follow.
