Lionel Messi has stated that he wants to go back to Barcelona once his time at PSG his over. The Argentinian left Barcelona this summer to join PSG as a free agent. He spent over two decades in Barcelona while playing for the Blaugrana.

‘I don’t know when my contract with PSG will end.

‘But what is also confirmed, and certain, is that we are going to live in Barcelona and our life will be there.

‘It’s what my wife wants and I want.

Messi has claimed that he found the first few months of living in Paris ‘bad’. The traffic has been very difficult to deal with and has hampered his style of living as well.

‘It was a lot of time in the same place, the routine, the daily way of life, going into a changing room I knew like the back of my hand.

‘We were spoilt where we were before.

‘Everything was easy and nearby. I would take the children to school and go back home, then head to training, return home for something to eat and go and pick the kids up.

‘Today I don’t have time to take the children to school and pick them up and go to training.’

‘Moving to Paris was a complete change. It meant arriving somewhere that was totally new, both the city and the club.

‘I loved the life I had in Barcelona, the club and it’s something I miss although it doesn’t mean things are not good here.’

The 34-year-old talked to Sport in the interview, and also stated that he hopes to be a sporting director in the future. Barcelona is the preferred destination for the six-time Ballon d’Or award winner, since he is their greatest ever player.

Messi’s contract with PSG is expected to run until 2023 with the option for one more season. There is a good chance we could see him return to Barcelona after he fulfills his obligations to the Parisians.
