The drama never seems to end in Barcelona. The club is currently in arguably one of the most tumultuous phase in their history, and at a time when unity within the squad would be worth its weight in gold, two of the best players in the club have had a falling out between each other.Â
Lionel Messi and Marc Andre Ter-Stegen have reportedly had a fight with each other that has seen the relationship between the two take a massive hit. Reports indicate that Ter-Stegen is furious with Messi regarding the Argentinian voting Keylor Navas, Manuel Neuer and Jan Oblak in FIFA’s The Best Awards, and leaving out his teammate.
Messi has had a history of voting for his teammates whenever he has the chance, and leaving Ter-Stegen out of his choices for the Best Goalkeeper award has not been taken well by the German.
The keeper has gone as far as to say that he will consider his future at Barcelona now that the two players are not on good terms. This is even more concerning given that Ter-Stegen only recently signed a new contract with the club.
Diaro Gol state that the keeper has also asked to keep his biopic movie on hold, possibly awaiting the departure of Lionel Messi till the movie gets made.
The Argentinian now has 6 months remaining on his contract with Barcelona and is eligible to negotiate a pre-contract with other clubs. However, as revealed by the 6-time Ballon d’Or winner in the famous La Sexta interview, he will only make a decision when the season ends in June.Â
The Catalonian club are currently 6th in La Liga and face Paris Saint-Germain in the Round of 16 of the Champions League. While Barcelona are unbeaten in their last five games in the league, they will want to step up their game if they desire to earn silverware at the end of the campaign.
