Messi and Neymar to reunite at either PSG or Barcelona

Universo Online reports that Neymar and Messi will surely play together next season, whether that be at Paris Saint-Germain or Barcelona. In other words, Messi will only join PSG if Neymar stays there and vice versa.

Neymar has been on the verge of signing a new PSG contract for months now. Multiple sources, including the ever-reliable Fabrizio Romano, have indicated that only the final details were to be sorted out and that over the last few weeks, only the signature of the player was left.

However, reports now indicate that Neymar’s stalling could be a sign of cold feet when it comes to committing to the project at PSG. The idea of a partnership between Messi and Neymar has been talked about extensively now and could be the only way to go forward.

That is especially considering that Messi’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season, and a marquee signing will be required to persuade him to stay at Barcelona.

If PSG were to sign Messi, a front three of himself, Neymar and potentially Kylian Mbappe as well would be a recipe for a Champions League winning team right there. However, while it all sounds good in theory there is a lot of work to do to make that a reality, and it could be too costly given the current financial situation.

As for Barcelona, the €1 billion debt is not going away anytime soon and Neymar’s wages on top of it could be too much to hold for the books. However, either one seems to be happening this summer if these reports are to be believed.
