In an unexpected turn of events, the legendary Australian cricketer, Meg Lanning, has announced her retirement from international cricket at the young age of 31. Lanning, who was Australia’s most successful captain, had been on a break due to mental health issues, leaving many to believe that she would make a triumphant comeback. “The decision to step away from international cricket was a difficult one to make, but I feel now is the right time for me,” Lanning said in the press conference.

“I’ve been incredibly fortunate to enjoy a 13-year international career, but I know now is the right time for me to move on to something new.“

“Team success is why you play the game, I’m proud of what I have been able to achieve and will cherish the moments shared with teammates along the way.“

Meg Lanning, one of Australia’s most exceptional batters and leaders, left a lasting legacy in the world of cricket. She captained the Australian team an astonishing 182 times and clinched seven World Cups, five of them as a captain. Her record of scoring 15 centuries in ODIs is a testament to her unmatched prowess. Lanning’s last appearance in international cricket was in the T20 World Cup final against South Africa earlier this year.
