MediaTek Helio G100 SoC: A Significant Upgrade Over the Helio G99 Unveiled

Last month, MediaTek Helio G100 SoC was launched from the previous generation the Mediatek Helio. This new studio is based on TSMC’s leading 6nm production process (N6) and has good power efficiency to improve the endurance of large batteries in entry-level 4G devices. The Helio G100 delivers this with an octa-core CPU and Arm-class GPU, LPDDR4X memory support, and UFS storage providing the same levels of device capability as premium smartphones.

The Helio G100 can handle only recently published high-end, the very best camera functionalities.  The SoC is capable of handling up to 200MP cameras in smartphones, which will allow smartphone manufacturers to deliver high-resolution cameras even on budget devices. It is also paired with advanced imaging features like lossless in-sensor zoom and 2.2µm pixel binning for improved image clarity resolution.

The chipset also offers helpful camera capabilities such as AI face detection and hardware depth engine, multi-frame noise reduction to deliver high-quality images. The included video recording is better, as well — the Helio G100 can record up to 2k at 30fps and full HD at around 60fps.

Again, the Helio G100 has a good display configuration as well with support for FHD+ resolutions up to 120 Hz refresh rate giving users smooth and vibrant visuals. Another key benefit of this SoC is the 4G Elevator Mode that will enable the cellular modem to reconnect the device quickly time after exiting from the lack of coverage area which eventually results smooth and consistent connectivity experience.

Under the hood, the Helio G100 features a powerful CPU configuration, with two Arm Cortex-A76 cores clocked at up to 2.2GHz and six Arm Cortex-A55 cores running at up to 2.0GHz. This is complemented by an Arm Mali-G57 MC2 GPU, providing robust graphics performance. Connectivity options include dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.2, and support for global navigation systems like GPS, BeiDou, Galileo, and NavIC. The Helio G100 SoC is set to power a new generation of efficient and powerful 4G smartphones, delivering advanced features at an affordable price point.
