NorthEast United have signed Mayakkannan Muthu on a permanent deal from I-League club Sreenidi Deccan to bolster their midfield. The 26-year-old was a standout player for Deccan this past season, and has now made the move to the Indian top flight, with his former club missing out on promotion due to an incredible run from Mohammedan Sporting.
Muthu has signed a two-year contract with the Highlanders, and leaves Deccan after a three-year spell, having joined them in 2021.

NorthEast United are expected to make one more signing for the season, and have extended the contracts of most of their important players. The plans for the season are to continue with the existing squad and to try and make it to the top six.
