Verstappen won 19 races in the previous season, which was the most dominant in Formula One history. To put things in perspective, throughout the 78-year history of the sport, just 17 drivers have won 19 races total. In 2023, Verstappen set an F1 record with 86.4% of the races won.

Another F1 record, he scored 575 out of 620 possible points the previous year. Verstappen and Sergio Perez, the runner-up, were separated by an incredible 290 points. Verstappen once achieved an F1 record by winning ten straight races. With Verstappen presently at the top of his game, everyone will be watching to see how the 26-year-old builds on his incredible season.

Max Verstappen, 15 victories in 2022

Since Verstappen had such a fantastic 2022 season, many of the records he broke in 2023 were his own. Nine of the final eleven races of 2022 were won by Verstappen. Lewis Hamilton had held the F1 record with 413 points in 2019, but his 454 points smashed it. Though excellent, Verstappen’s win percentage of 68.2% was nothing in comparison to what would happen the next year.

13 victories for Sebastian Vettel (2013)

Vettel, who finished the season with nine straight victories, held the record for most victories in a single season before Verstappen. During that season, Vettel won 68.4% of his races. In the end, he got 397 points, which is 155 more than Fernando Alonso, the runner-up. From 2010 until 2013, Vettel led Formula One in points. The best season of Vettel’s career turned out to be 2013. He finished fifth in points and didn’t win any races the next year.

13 victories for Michael Schumacher (2004)

With 13 victories out of 18 races in 2004, Schumacher had an outstanding 72.2 victory percentage. Having won 12 of the first 13 races of the year, he got off to a fast start. With more than three quarters of the season left, he sealed the title. With 34 more points than Rubens Barrichello, the runner-up, he concluded the year with 148. 2012 saw Schumacher depart from Formula One, having set a record for both championships and grand prix victories.
