Max Verstappen endured a dangerous-looking crash at the British Grand Prix, heading sideways into the tire barrier after making contact with Lewis Hamilton. The two were engaged in a fierce battle for the lead from the very beginning, and the Dutch driver crashed out in the very first lap.

The race was red-flagged for a long time, and after it was restarted, Lewis Hamilton pulled off a massive comeback by overtaking Charles Leclerc in the final stages to win the race. He celebrated his victory naturally, which invited heated comments from fans, and a response from Verstappen.

Glad I’m ok. Very disappointed with being taken out like this. The penalty given does not help us and doesn’t do justice to the dangerous move Lewis made on track. He later took to Twitter to address the situation and provide a health update, confirming that he is okay. “Watching the celebrations while still in hospital is disrespectful and unsportsmanlike behaviour but we move on,” Verstappen tweeted.

“This year [Max Verstappen] has been very aggressive, and most of the time I’ve had to concede, avoid an incident with him and live to fight on later on in the race,” Hamilton said in his press conference.

The points difference between the two drivers has now reduced to 11 from 33 and makes for exciting viewing for fans of the sport. The two have been caught up in a heated rivalry, which is getting more tense with every race. Hamilton’s record eighth championship was looking in danger at the start of the new season since Verstappen managed to get a good lead. But now, the competition is stronger since the points difference has reduced between the two.
