Matteo Guendouzi is set to join Lazio on a loan deal with an obligation to buy from Olympique Marseille. The midfielder will become the third new addition for the Albiceleste this summer after the arrival of Daichi Kamada and Nicolo Rovella. The Frenchman will be expected to fill in the void left by Sergej Milinkovic-Savic in midfield after he joined Al Hilal on a permanent deal.
The Italian side will pay an initial €1 million loan fee, with a €12 million mandatory buy clause which will become valid next summer. Add-ons worth €5 million are also available in the deal, with a 10% sell-on clause which means Marseille will be entitled to a tenth of any future Lazio receive for the player.
Matteo Guendouzi to sign for Lazio on loan with buy option
The dynamic midfielder will sign a five-year contract with Lazio after his loan spell is complete. He will receive a salary of €2.5 million per season plus add-ons as part of the contract with the Italian side.
Matteo Guendouzi is expected to be at the Paideia clinic in Rome to complete his medical for the transfer today. He will then be announced as a new player for Lazio once the formalities have been completed and the contract has been signed.
The 24-year-old previously featured for Arsenal before being frozen out of the squad for his temper issues on the pitch. He has since been able to revive his career with Marseille and now takes a step up to Lazio in Serie A.
