Crystal Palace have completed the signing of Matheus Franca from Brazilian club Flamengo. They will receive a transfer fee worth €20 million upfront, plus €10 million in add-ons. There is also a 20% sell-on clause included in the player’s deal, which will see Flamengo entitled to the agreed upon percentage of any fee that Palace receive for him in the future.
The player has arrived in the UK to complete his medical tests, and will officially be announced as a new player for the Eagles after the formalities are completed.
Matheus Franca to sign for Crystal Palace imminently
Palace’s London rivals, Chelsea, were also interested in signing the player as part of their program to sign the best young talents. But, they have been beaten to his signature by Crystal Palace, who are in a better position to offer him regular game time.
Matheus Franca will follow Jefferson Lerma, whom the Eagles signed as a free agent after he left Bournemouth. More signings are expected for the club after the two, after the departures of Luka Milivojevic and James McArthur.
The 19-year-old is expected to be the replacement for Wilfried Zaha, who left the club as a free agent after turning down a massive new contract worth £200,000 a week. The winger has since signed for Turkish side Galatasaray, ending his spell in England.
