Mason Greenwood has not had the best start to the 20/21 season, but it is easy to forget that the player is still only a teenager. The youngster enjoyed a breakout campaign in first-team football with the 19/20 campaign, beating Wayne Rooney’s record for the most goals scored as a teenager.Â
The winger has been heralded by many veterans as the future of Manchester United’s attack, and rightfully so. His potential is unbelievable, especially given that he is a two-footed player and is equally dangerous with the ball at either foot.
Speaking on his future at the club, Franceso Porzio and Fabrizio Romano revealed that a contract extension for the Manchester United academy product was reportedly on the cards in the new year.
It was only a year ago that the club offered him a new deal. Greenwood’s current deal is set to run till 2023, and the board has the option to trigger a clause in his contract for an additional year.
Having only recently celebrated his 19th birthday, it is easy to get ahead of ourselves when the footballing world sees the talent that Mason Greenwood has to offer. But it is really important that the youngster is given time and is not burdened with the expectations of winning matches on his own yet.
