Sony’s Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 comes to PC today, January 30, however, marking the long-awaited debut of the webslinger’s latest adventure on the platform. The port has been in development for a while, but its performance on PCs has been largely unknown until now.
Developer Nixxes Software spelled out the PC-specific enhancements in a PlayStation Blog post, noting that it had “finetune performance and fidelity across a broad range of hardware configurations.” The new trailer showcases some of those upgrades, such as you no longer needing a PSN account to play on PC and new raytracing functions like DLSS 3.5 Ray Reconstruction.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Swings Onto PC With Raytracing Upgrades, No PSN Requirement, and Ultrawide Support
Menno Bil, a graphics programmer at Nixxes, states, “Enabling ray reconstruction allows for ray-traced reflections and shadows to look better, even at oblique angles.” Ray-traced interiors, as well as ghosting and noise reduction in ambient occlusion, are also getting better. Other features include support for DLSS 3, FSR 3.1 upscaling, and Intel’s XeSS upscaler. DLSS 4’s Multi Frame Generation won’t natively be supported but Nvidia users can potentially incorporate this through the Nvidia app to improve DLSS 3’s Frame Generation picture quality.
For fans of ultrawide displays, the game includes aspect ratios up to a massive 48:9, with cinematics available even at 32:9. System requirements are divided into ray-traced and non-ray-traced settings, making it accessible across different PC setups. Those opting out of raytracing can achieve 720p at 30 FPS on an entry-level system with an Nvidia GTX 1650, Intel Core i3 8100, and 16 GB of RAM. At the high end, the “Ray Tracing Ultimate” preset at 4K 60 FPS demands an RTX 4090, AMD Ryzen 7800X3D, and 32 GB of RAM.
As for Steam Deck compatibility, the game’s higher RAM and GPU requirements make official verification uncertain. While previous Spider-Man titles were more scalable due to their PS4 origins, Spider-Man 2’s PS5 exclusivity suggests a greater hardware demand. Despite this, the game’s flexible requirements have been well received, with one Reddit user calling it “the best hardware requirements sheet I’ve seen so far” and another adding, “If performance lives up to this, it’ll be very well received.”
