Martin Zubimendi has turned down a move to Liverpool, and is set to stay at Real Sociedad for the coming season. After rejecting Arsenal, Bayern Munich and Barcelona over the past few seasons, the Spain international is now set to sign a new contract with his boyhood club.
Interestingly, the contract proposal made by Sociedad will be significantly lower than Liverpool’s offer. However, the player was keen on staying and will not commit his future to the club soon.

Liverpool had only held initial conversations with the Spanish side, and were willing to offer a fee in the region of €60-70 million for Zubimendi. However, with the player not willing to move, they will have to make the most of their current squad.
Martin Zubimendi has made 188 appearances across all competitions for Sociedad since making the move to the senior team. While primarily a defensive midfielder, he has scored eight goals and provided seven assists across all competitions and has won the 19/20 Copa del Rey with the club.
The Reds are the only team in the Premier League’s big six to have not made any new signings this summer. With Arne Slot not making any new additions to the team, it’ll be interesting to see if Liverpool can retain their status as one of the top teams in England.
Will Mikel Merino join Arsenal?
Chances of the transfer happening are still there.
