Out of favour Real Madrid star Martin Odegaard is set to go out on loan to Arsenal for the remainder of the 20/21 season, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Italian transfer insider has given the deal his famous “here we go” signal that basically signifies that the signing is as good as done and that the transfer will be officially announced by clubs in the upcoming days.

Medicals are yet to be held for the Norwegian, and once he passes the tests, he will officially be part of the London club until June.

Odegaard’s last loan club, Real Sociedad were also interested in having him return for another spell. However, it was Mikel Arteta’s call that ultimately made the midfielder choose a move to England over another loan spell in Spain.

According to Romano, the promise of increased game time, the plans that Arsenal have for the remainder of the season and the chance to showcase his skills in the most popular football league in the world was simply too good to resist.

Odegaard returned from a season-long loan spell at Sociedad at the start of the 20/21 season, but while he made a few appearances for Madrid in the early stages of the season, those opportunities soon faded away with the resurgence of Kroos, Casemiro and Modric as an irreplaceable trio in the heart of the park.

He has since asked to leave the club on loan in order to get some valuable minutes under his belt to work on his talents, in an attempt to possibly break into the Madrid first team for good in the next season, or the year after that, when Luka Modric could be on his way out of the club.
