Olympique Marseille are stepping up their recruitment this season, and have completed the signings of Cengiz Under and Pau Lopez on a loan deal from Roma. The French club will have an option to make the transfers permanent after their loan spell is up in 2022.

Under plays as a right-winger for the Italian capital club, and spent the 20/21 season out on loan at Premier League club Leicester City. The attacker made 9 appearances in the domestic league, and only managed to provide two assists, with no goals scored.

The Turkish international has earned 32 caps for the national team and has scored 9 goals since making his debut in 2016. He is not seen as a part of Jose Mourinho’s plans at Roma, and will, in all possibility, spend his next few years playing in France.

Pau Lopez, goalkeeper for the team, is also being recruited. The player stood between the sticks in 34 matches across all competitions in the entire season, and kept 9 clean sheets. At 26, the Spaniard is relatively young and could help Marseille potentially rise to the next level.

Marseille have already signed Barcelona winger Konrad de la Fuente on a permanent deal. Arsenal duo Matteo Guendouzi and William Saliba will also join the French club on loan. Guendouzi is not a part of Mikel Arteta’s plans, and Saliba needs to play constant football to develop further. And that is the purpose behind sending him out on loan.
