Arsenal are in advanced negotiations with Sao Paulo for the signing of their winger, Marquinhos, in the summer. The 19-year-old will be making the move when the summer transfer window opens, and the transfer fee involved will be between €3-3.5 million.
He had signed a five-year contract with Sao Paulo in 2019, but FIFA refused to recognise it since he was underage. In their eyes, his deal is only valid for three years and is set to run out at the end of the Brazilian season.
Marquinhos deal close to being made official
To avoid losing the winger for a free transfer since he turned down contract extension offer, Sao Paulo are looking to sell Marquinhos so that they can recover some money from his sale.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the paperworks for the transfer are being discussed between the two clubs. Once the details have been finalised, and the paperworks have been signed, Marquinhos will officially become an Arsenal player.
Wolves and Atletico Madrid showed interest in signing the young Brazilian over the last few weeks. But, it seems like Arsenal have won the race to sign him when the summer window opens.
The Gunners are trying to sign Gabriel Jesus in the summer as well, in hopes of rebuilding their attack. With the arrival of attacking reinforcements, Mikel Arteta will receive a boost in his ambitions to restore the club to their former glory, starting with the new season.
