Turkish club Adana Demirspor have confirmed the return of Mario Balotelli as a free agent. The striker recently left Swiss club Sion after his contract was terminated, and the Turkish side completed a deadline day move to re-sign the forward.
Balotelli has signed a one-year deal with Adana Demirspor, with the option to extend for another year and joins the 11th club of his career, after failing to stay anywhere for more than two years at any club since he left Nice.
Mario Balotelli rejoins Adana Demirspor after leaving Sion FC
The 33-year-old had a good spell in Turkey when he played for Adana Demirspor in 2021. He scored 19 goals and provided seven assists across 35 games in all competitions, recapturing some of his best form.
But he eventually had to leave for free and joined Sion in Switzerland. Now, Mario Balotelli has returned for another spell with the club and it will be interesting to see how things turn out for him this time around.
The former Italy international has been plagued by issues off the pitch, with his attitude and discipline being criticised by numerous coaches. However, his talent has been appreciated throughout and he seemingly goes down as one of the greatest “what-if”s of his generation.
Adana Demirspor also completed the signing of PSG academy graduate Edouard Michut on a loan deal with a buy option as part of their deadline day business.
