He has taken a resolution to end child hunger in the UK. The England striker forced the UK-government to take a U-turn on free school meals earlier this summer, which was admired by everyone around the world. Every human being is praising Rashford for his great work outside the football pitch.
He is also praised by opponent players and managers as well. Recently he was featured on the cover of GQ as their Campaigner of the Year.
Marcus Rashford explains his plans and motivation to do this. He said, “Well, at the beginning of the coronavirus, we weren’t sure whether football would be going ahead at all from March to September, so I knew I maybe had six months to channel my energy into something else and try to do my best in that instead.”
“From a young age, I’ve always had this mentality that if I start something, I can’t finish it, not until I feel it’s been done to the best of my ability. And the summer holidays were something I had spoken about already, with my brothers and with my team – that the kids who needed free school meals weren’t getting them over the holidays. And, obviously, the summer holidays are the longest period off, and with coronavirus as well, everything was getting worse for not only those children but their parents. So I already wanted to do something about it, but the timing of coronavirus and approaching the summer holidays and my injury… I just decided to put all of my energy and focus into that.”- he added.
Marcus Rashford has already received the ‘MBE’ honour. Now he is on the cover of GQ. The young man is surely a role model now.
