Donny Van De Beek didn’t feature against Chelsea at Old Trafford on Saturday. Manchester United secured a 0-0 draw against the London side. It was quite astonishing to see Donny Van De Beek didn’t come up from the bench to break the deadlock.
Donny Van De Beek is yet to start a game in Premier League for Manchester United, though he scored in his Premier League debut against Crystal Palace after coming off the bench. His performance after coming off the bench was so good that he should have started at least a game till now.
Former Manchester United player Patrice Evra also questioned why United bought the Netherlands international.
Now, Netherlands great Marco Van Basten has also raised his voice. According to him, Donny Van De Beek should have never joined Manchester United.
Van Basten, who had a glittering playing career with Ajax and AC Milan, said: “Donny should not have gone to Manchester United.”
“When you are a good player you want to play every week. It is really bad for a player like Donny to play only six or seven games this year. That is shocking for your match rhythm.”
“I know he is earning loads and loads more than he used to. But as a top player you have to be critical and look at the chances of playing when you sign for a new club.”
“Donny should have waited for better prospects and signed for another club.”
There has been a lot of criticism on Ole for signing Van De Beek if he doesn’t intend in playing him regularly.
The 23-year-old had been a major part of the Ajax team for the last few years and he was expected to play the same role at Old Trafford but he hasn’t got any opportunity till now under Solakjaer.
