Marco Asensio is set to leave Real Madrid at the end of the season, when his contract expires. The attacker has been in talks with the board over a new deal since the start of the new year, but negotiations have broken down and he is now set to leave as a free agent.
The 27-year-old has found it hard to make the starting line-up consistently, but has made a significant impact from the bench whenever called upon. This season, he has scored 12 goals and provided six assists in 50 appearances across all competitions.

Although the board was willing to offer him a greater salary, and the freedom to choose the length of the contract, the main point of dispute was his importance in the squad. With Rodrygo the preferred option on the right wing, Marco Asensio’s playing time is unlikely to be very high.
And in spite of his versatility, he will not be a regular starter for Los Blancos. As a result, he has decided to look for a new challenge where he will be an important member of the project.
Several clubs from the Premier League are trying to sign the player, alongside clubs like Milan from Italy. However, he hasn’t made a final decision regarding his future yet and is yet to commit to a new club.
