Marcelinho is set to return to the ISL, and will be signed by NorthEast United until the end of the season. He is currently playing for Rajasthan United, and will be signed on a loan deal until the end of the season.

According to renowned journalist Marcus Mergulhao, the deal is done and will be announced by the club soon. Interestingly, Marcelinho joined Rajasthan last month, but could not be registered by the club. As a result, he will spend the remainder of the ISL season on loan in the top flight of Indian football.

The following season, he made the move to Pune City FC, and also finished as the highest provider in the squad, with seven assists. He continued his form for a second season before joining Hyderabad FC in 19/20, their debut season.

In 20/21, Marcelinho featured for Odisha until January, before joining ATK Mohun Bagan. After missing the first part of the season, he is now joining the Highlanders.

Fede Gallego, their Uruguayan star, has been ruled out for the season with an injury. Having a similar skill set to the player, Marcelinho will have to step up to help Khalid Jamil’s team move up the table, since they are currently in tenth place.
