Manu Bhaker recently made history by being the first Indian to earn two medals in the same edition of the Olympics. The shooter won the bronze medal in the 10-meter pistol mixed event alongside Sarabjot Singh as well as the individual 10-meter pistol event.

Bhaker has the chance to make history with three medals provided she can earn one in the 25m event. Regardless, her journey so far has been nothing short of remarkable, and exactly what is expected from a sportsperson.

Three years ago, the shooter endured a difficult campaign, parting ways with her coach Jaspal Rana just before the event. However, the pair have now reconciled and Rana is coaching Bhaker again.

Manu Bhaker struggled with gun malfunctions and other difficulties, aged 19 when the Tokyo Olympics were taking place. She finished 15th in the 10m air pistol event, failing to reach the finals and being unable to make a mark in any of the three events she participated in.

However, the heartbreak last time around seems to have been a learning experience for her. And this time around, she has earned a place in the history books and has made a name for herself on the big stage too.

What other records did Bhaker break?

She is also the first female shooter from India to win a medal in any event.
