New India head coach Manolo Marquez has now chosen his backroom staff to assist him. The FC Goa head coach was chosen over almost 300 applicants as the best candidate to lead the team into the new era.
Now, the Spaniard has recruited Benito Montalvo as his assistant and Jose Carlos Barosso as the strength and conditioning coach for the national team. The duo currently works with him at FC Goa, and will also join him when he takes charge of the national team.

The 55-year-old will also be joined by Indian assistant Manish Gawli, who is contracted to the AIFF. However, he hasn’t worked with Marquez in the past and will collaborate with the Spaniard for the first time in the September international break.
Marc Gamon will also join the national team as the goalkeeping coach, having worked with Manolo Marquez previously at Hyderabad FC before leaving for Belgium.
So far, opponents for the September international break have not been confirmed. However, reports suggest that the teams will be lower placed than India in the rankings and will be from Africa and Oceania.
