Manchester United are in advanced talks with Erik Ten Hag for the managerial position next season. The Premier League outfit is looking for the successor to Ralf Rangnick, and the Ajax manager is considered the frontrunner to land the job.
Mauricio Pochettino of PSG is the other main target that Manchester United are currently looking at. However, chances of the Argentine returning to the Premier League are on the lower side considering Ten Hag’s presence in the race.
No final agreement between Manchester United and Erik Ten Hag yet
While Ten Hag is highly appreciated by the Manchester United board and officials, there is no final agreement between the two yet. He has been interviewed twice by the club, and topics such as transfer strategy, vision for the future and squad management have come into discussion.
Ralf Rangnick is set to be an advisor to Manchester United next season, helping them make more efficient transfer decisions. And he has approved Ten Hag as a potential candidate to take the team forward. However, he is not a part of the formal negotiations between the club and the 52-year-old.
But the deal is far from being completed as of right now. Ajax will need to be paid €2 million as part of his release clause if they are to secure his place on the Old Trafford home bench. United might also be required to bring more staff members from Ajax if Ten Hag is named the next manager of the club.
