Manchester United are now in the race for securing the services of Real Madrid striker Luka Jovic on a season-long loan. United has already started to talk about the potential loan move with the Spanish Champion.
Luca Jovic joined Real Madrid in 2019 after a blistering season in Bundesliga with Eintracht Frankfurt. But he failed to deliver as per expectation for the Spanish side. In his 28 appearances for Real Madrid, he has scored only 2 goals. He is also having a lack of game time as well. Real Madrid want to offer him a loan move so that he can have the opportunity to prove his critics wrong.
Some reports said he also has some issues with Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane. Though Zidane declined that and said, “I didn’t want to change the formation. So, I could have put on another centre-forward by taking one-off, but I didn’t want to change the formation.”
“I’d have had to take [Karim] Benzema off, but he was playing well. By playing two centre-forwards, I would have needed to change the formation yet I wanted to keep two wingers on the wings.”
“We have a squad and many players and I have to choose. Today, this is how I picked things. But, I don’t have anything against any player. Like I said before, I didn’t want to change the formation.”, he added.
Luka Jovic has been offered to a number of clubs around Europe, including Manchester United. United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to increase the quality upfront.
United was in the market for Jadon Sancho but still, there have been no fees agreed between Dortmund and United. The addition of Luka Jovic will surely be a gain for United. United striker Anthony Martial is not in form recently. Besides that, he is not a complete centre-forward which Jovic can offer pretty well.
Some reports also suggest that United is considering a move for Edinson Cavani as well. But Luca Jovic is their first priority.
