Manchester United are the favourites to land Raphael Varane this summer, and according to Fabrizio Romano, they are now ready to launch their first official bid.Â
The representatives of the Premier League club are in direct contact with the player’s entourage for the last four days. United have offered Varane a contract for five years until 2026, and personal terms have never been a problem for the transfer to go through.
Varane is keen to make the switch to the Premier League since he wants something new in his career. He has been at Real Madrid for a decade and has lifted every trophy there is to win playing for Los Blancos. The Spanish giants want €40 million for his services, and United could match the fee soon, once they reach an agreement with Madrid.Â
According to Fabrizio Romano, it is only a matter of time before the deal is complete. The 2018 World Cup winner will become the second centre-back to leave Real Madrid following Sergio Ramos’ departure earlier this month, as the former skipper was unveiled as a PSG player.
Madrid tried to offer Varane a contract extension numerous times, but the player rejected their advances. Having a year left on his current deal, Madrid are choosing to cash in on the player than risk losing him for free next year, like Ramos.
The deal for Jadon Sancho has been finalised after a year in the pipeline, and Varane could be the second big signing for the Red Devils in the weeks to come.
