After collaborating with Stella McCartney to design the eye-catching, gender-neutral Adidas PREDATOR FREAK, Paul Pogba has donned the world’s first pair of vegan football boots.
Pogba, 28, has long been interested in fashion and design, and during his five years at Old Trafford, the Frenchman has dazzled with a variety of remarkable hairstyles and style choices.
After collaborating with fashion designer Stella McCartney during a lockdown, the World Cup winner has introduced a new vegan football boot, the Adidas PREDATOR FREAK.
The laceless boots, which are made of vegan materials and feature blue and green leopard spots and orange rubber spikes, are the latest incarnation of the legendary PREDATOR brand. The laced model is £211, while the limited-edition variant is £236. It is also constructed using recycled materials.
Pogba debuted the boots in Manchester United’s thrilling 3-2 Champions League victory over Atalanta this week, coming off the bench to help secure the second-half turnaround.
Pogba said: “I am a footballer first and foremost, but I have a huge interest in fashion and design and I’ve always wanted to explore this further.”
“This collaboration has been particularly special for me because I’ve been a fan of Stella McCartney’s work for a long time, so when we came together and had this idea, it felt like the perfect opportunity to create something.”
“It was in the middle of lockdown and I was missing playing football so much, so it was an incredible feeling to be able to focus on something that combines my love for the game with my passion for style.”
“The boots we created with Adidas are bold and unique, and I can’t wait to wear them when I step onto the pitch.”
McCartney added: “Last year during the lockdown, Adidas brought Paul and me together which is where this idea was firstborn.”
“Hearing how passionate he was about fashion and learning how much we had in common sparked the inspiration for co-creating this iconic boot.”
“One comment that stuck with me was how fashion was part of his personality both on and off the pitch, so it was important for this to shine through in the design.”
PETA director Elisa Allen told Sportsmail: “PETA supporter Stella McCartney, Adidas, and Paul Pogba have scored points for compassion with this elite vegan football boot – which is as kind as it is functional. “
