The two English heavyweights will square off at Old Trafford this weekend, with Manchester United taking on Manchester City. Manchester United drew their match against Atalanta as Cristiano Ronaldo equalized in stoppage time.

Manchester City, on the other hand, crushed Club Brugge 4-1 to win Group A of the UEFA Champions League.

Manchester United, despite being one of the most popular clubs in the world, recently overcame Juventus to become the fourth most followed club on Instagram, trailing only Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, and Paris Saint-Germain.

Juventus has 51.4 million fans. It’s been dubbed the “Cristiano effect” since the clubs he’s played for (Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Juventus) have the most followers on the famous social media app.

About the Derby Match

The two clubs have played each other 185 times in competitive matches, with the Red Devils winning 77 times and City winning 55 times. A total of 53 games have resulted in a draw.

In recent derbies versus Manchester City, Manchester United has had the upper hand. The Red Devils have gone undefeated in their last four league matches against Manchester City. As a result, it will be intriguing to see how Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team approaches this game, as a poor result might have long-term consequences for the Norwegian strategist.

The Premier League’s broadcasting rights are held by Star Sports, hence the games will be shown live on their network. Star Sports Select 1 and Star Sports Select 1 HD will broadcast the Manchester Derby live. Depending on their preferred comments, fans can even switch to regional languages.

Despite being ahead of their competitors in the table, the Cityzens recently lost 2-0 to Crystal Palace, in which French center-back Aymeric Laporte was sent off. As a result, the game is shaping up to be a cracker, with both teams poised ahead of the big battle.
