Manchester United travelled to the Molineux in Ole Gunnar Solskjær’s 100th game in charge to face Wolves. The Red Devils were outplayed by the home side for the majority of the fixture, but Mason Greenwood managed to score within the last ten minutes of the game to give Solskjær the victory.
In the process, United have broken the record for the most number of undefeated away games in England, with number 28 against Wolves yesterday. Since February 2020, United have won 18 games and drawn 10 as they broke Arsene Wenger’s record set between 2003 and 04.
Raphael Varane and Jadon Sancho made their first starts for their new club. While Sancho was not the most prolific player on the attacking front, Varane managed to keep a clean sheet on the road in his first game in the Premier League.
During the 28-game unbeaten streak, United have kept 13 clean sheets and have scored 51 goals to help them achieve this feat. They have avoided defeat against nine different teams in England during this time, namely, Chelsea, Everton, Spurs, Brighton, Aston Villa, Crystal Palace, Leicester City, Wolves and Southampton.
With the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo and Varane at Old Trafford, United are shaping up as genuine title contenders in England once again. They are currently unbeaten in 21/22 as well, having won two and drawing one game. Only time will tell how Ole Gunnar Solskjær manages to extend his record at home, and away to deliver his first trophy as manager of his former club.
