Manchester United is willing to sell Anthony Martial to Inter Milan, who want him to replace Romelu Lukaku. Manchester United appears to be ready to accept that Anthony Martial does not have a future at the club, just under six years after signing him for £50 million.

After failing to bring any consistency to his game, the Red Devils are reportedly set to sell the Frenchman to Inter Milan. Many were perplexed as to why United paid so much for a player who had only 11 goals in 49 games when the deal was announced.

Red Devils manager Louis Van Gaal immediately tried to downplay the belief that the then-19-year-old would immediately become the first-team option. The attacker had an encouraging first season, earning a regular spot in United’s starting lineup.

He finished the season as the Red Devils’ top scorer, earning praise from Sir Alex Ferguson and becoming the Premier League’s third-youngest player to win Player of the Month. He played all 120 minutes of United’s FA Cup final win over Crystal Palace after starring in the FA Cup semi-final win over Everton.

As a result of his efforts, he was named Golden Boy for 2015, a title previously held by Lionel Messi, Wayne Rooney, and Sergio Aguero. Unfortunately for United, Martial’s time at Old Trafford was short-lived, as he quickly fell out of favor under Van Gaal’s replacement, Jose Mourinho.

With Martial failing to score a single goal since January 2018, many expected him to leave in the summer transfer window. That did not happen, however, as United chose to keep him at Old Trafford, prompting Gary Neville to demand that he finally realize his potential.

Despite his strong season in front of goal, Martial has yet to establish himself as a long-term midfield option. United is ready to accept that Martial will never be good enough at Old Trafford after he failed to live up to his expensive price tag.
