Manchester United have begun the search for their new head coach to succeed Ralf Rangnick in the summer. The German was appointed as the temporary replacement for Ole Gunnar Solskjær, after he was sacked for a poor run of results.
Despite struggling in recent weeks, United seem to have found their rhythm and have been able to find results under the veteran coach. They are currently fourth in the table, and are looking to secure Champions League football at the end of the season. However, that is not the final goal for the team according to John Murtough, the sporting director.
Manchester United have started new head coach search
“We are now conducting a thorough process for the appointment of a new permanent manager who will take charge this summer with the objective to get us back to challenging for those domestic and European titles,” Murtough said, according to The Athletic.
Paris Saint-Germain and former Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has been linked with a move to Old Trafford time and time again. Ajax’s Erik Ten Hag has also been one of the names strongly linked with a move to the club to replace Rangnick.
However, neither of them have been able to guide their clubs to European glory. As a result, Manchester United need someone who has experience coaching a side to the pinnacle of continental football, and is able to manage the egos in the locker room as well.
