Manchester United are working to extend the contract of Luke Shaw in the coming weeks. The left-back is their priority following the extension of Bruno Fernandes for the next few years.

His current deal runs out in 2023, and the club has the option to extend his contract for another year until 2024. But, the board will try to renew his contract further with an improved offer for the player. His current salary worth £7 million per season could be increased as part of the new deal.

Luke Shaw next on Manchester United’s contract extension list

Same clause is also included into Rashford's current contract.

The 26-year-old has been with the Red Devils since 2014, after making the move from Southampton. During his time at Old Trafford, he has been criticised for his weight and injury prone nature by fans. His lack of accurate crossing ability is also one of the recent points of criticism due to the system in place.

But regardless of the negative comments, Manchester United, as well as potential new manager Erik Ten Hag, believe that he is right for the club. And as a result, they will work to offer him a new deal at the club.

Luke Shaw is expected to be out for the next three weeks, after undergoing an operation that will remove the screws in the broken leg that he suffered in 2015. He is going under the knife again due to new complications, and will miss the next few games.
